Once upon a time, a young woman began her career as a secretary, diligently managing diaries and taking notes in shorthand. But as the years passed, she realised her true passion lay elsewhere - she dreamt of becoming a beauty consultant with Clarins.

By day, she was immersed in office routines, by night, she pored over the glossy beauty pages of magasines, wondering what life in the beauty industry might be like. In her twenties, that dream became impossible to ignore. Determined to follow her heart, she left the office behind and enrolled on a two-year BTEC Diploma in Beauty Therapy at college - her first step towards a career in beauty.

During her second year of study, opportunity came knocking; she was offered a part-time position with Clarins, becoming their very first Sunday girl at Boots. It was a small but exciting start and she knew she was on the right path.

After completing her diploma, Clarins took her on full-time. There, she found immense joy working alongside other like-minded colleagues and connecting with customers, making sure they felt amazing when they the store. She felt at home behind the counter but the practicalities of life soon called her back to the office. In pursuit of shared dreams with her new husband - like owning their first home - she traded beauty for a steady office salary.

In 2004, life took them to Ireland, where she continued working administrative jobs. But despite the spreadsheets and emails, she never stopped dreaming of another life in the beauty business.

Beauty wasn’t just a passing interest—it was part of who she was. With renewed determination, she dusted off her beauty qualifications, resigned from the office (again!), and threw herself into refreshing her skills. She took courses in bridal and editorial makeup, worked with Shiseido, contributed as makeup artist on a photoshoot and even dabbled as a makeup artist’s assistant, interning at a beauty school. Oh, and also did the makeup for a burlesque troupe!

When it was time to return to the UK in 2015, admin roles commenced again – but this time, they were part of a bigger plan: a four-year journey to finally turn her dream of becoming a beauty therapist and makeup artist into a reality!
