Who needs pumpkin carving when you have LED masking?

It’s that time of year again - dark nights (boo), bones are rattling due to cold weather (brrrr) and your skincare mask might just scare the kids down the road! Yep, nothing says “I care about my complexion” more like wearing an LED-lit mask in the pitch black. Bonus? If I wear this thing outside on Halloween night, I could win both ‘Best Costume’ and ‘Best Skin’ awards in one go - tee, hee, hee.

So what is all the kurfuffle over these LED face masks - isn’t this just another expensive beauty trend? It might seem like an unnecessary gadget... until your face starts glowing and you’re left with smooth, brighter, even-toned skin. That’s right, I’m hooked. I use mine every other evening at 9pm for 10 mins. LED Masks use a combination of different types of light - green can reduce pigmentation, blue can be antibacterial and red boosts collagen production.

This mask is from Beauty Pie (£120 for members) and offers C-Wave infra-red therapy so we have the red light, and the near infra-red that penetrates a bit deeper. It claims to reduce wrinkles by 36% in 4 weeks, increase firmness, even skin tone and texture, and visibly reduce redness and pigmentation and brightens skin tone! I think it has done all of that to my face. My fine lines have definitely improved (as had my pigmentation actually until I went on holiday and my freckles popped out again but I put that down to slathering a load of vitamin C serum on my face) and the texture of my skin is so much more smoother and as a result, I am using less product on my skin (a little of everything goes a long way!). What I don’t like about it, is the mask is really hard on the skin when it’s on your face so it feels a bit uncomfortable. But it’s only 10 minutes and its 10 minutes of time-out, me-time!
